The Surgery
Technically known as “lipoplasty,” this body contouring procedure is suited for those who are near or at their ideal weight and are looking to remove stubborn fat deposits from specific areas of the body. Using a small suction tube (cannula) inserted through tiny incisions, Dr. Sherman suctions excess fat from a specific area. Patients may undergo liposuction on the chin, upper arms, back, abdomen, waist, hips, thighs, buttocks, knees, calves, and ankles. New technology such as The Body Jet, VASER, and laser lipolysis, similar to SmartLipo, permit removal of fat and skin tightening.
Patients who would like to optimally enhance their entire body may inquire about additional procedures. The most commonly combined in addition to liposuction, include tummy tuck surgery (“abdominoplasty”) and breast augmentation surgery (“augmentation mammaplasty”). The abdominoplasty procedure is designed to remove excess skin and fat in the midsection, while tightening the abdominal muscles to produce a flatter contour. Breast augmentation provides patients with a fuller breast contour with the use of either saline or silicone get breast implants, or via the fat transfer method. The combination of these procedures is commonly called a “Mommy Makeover.”
